Freshflow brings AI to Europe’s fresh aisles and closes $10M Series A

Today is a big day for the Freshflow team. We’re announcing that we’ve closed our $10M Series A round, led by Reimann Investors, with continued participation from Capnamic, caesar., World Fund, Venture Stars and Catatumbo Capital. We also warmly welcome IBB Ventures as a new co-investor.

Here’s why this round matters: for us, for our customers, and for the food system we’re trying to fix.

The problem we set out to solve

If you’ve ever walked into a supermarket and stared at half-rotten strawberries, you’ve seen the visible tip of a much bigger problem. Behind that fresh aisle sits a supply chain (producers, distribution centers, warehouses, stores) that moves hundreds of billions of euros of fresh food across Europe annually. Almost none of it runs on technology built for fresh.

Forecasting systems were built decades ago for canned goods, dry packaged products, and washing detergent. Fresh is a fundamentally different category. Shelf life in days, not months. Inventories that no ERP reliably knows. Multiple varieties sharing one checkout code. Hundreds of ordering decisions made each morning at the store level, on intuition. As a result, roughly a third of the fresh food European grocers buy, over €200B per year, ends up in the bin before a customer ever sees it.

For decades, the industry tried to bolt fresh onto dry-goods systems. It didn’t work. Loud attempts were made, then quietly shelved. Fresh stayed manual.

What we built

When we started Freshflow in 2021, we made a deliberate choice: build an AI from scratch, for fresh, and only for fresh. No recycled forecasting layer from the dry-goods world. The components (demand model, inventory inference, spoilage prediction, supplier routing) built from the ground up for the specific realities of fresh.

Five years of work. The result is now in production:

  • Up to 30% less spoilage per store
  • 2–4% more revenue per store
  • 93% acceptance rate of our AI recommendations by store staff (vs. the industry standard of 50–60%)

Today, Freshflow is a crucial part of daily operations at nine leading grocery retailers across Germany and France, including some of the largest independent merchants operating within groups like EDEKA, Carrefour, Intermarché and Stroetmann.

What’s next: from Store to Source

The store is just the starting point. With this round, we’re going deeper:

  • Product: Expanding the AI from fresh produce to more fresh categories (meat, bakery, in-store production) by Q4 2026. And pushing upstream from the store into the warehouse, the distribution center, and the producer. “From Store to Source.”
  • Markets: Deepening in DACH and France, with controlled expansion into further European markets from 2027.
  • Team: Significant hiring across Engineering, ML, Data Science, Sales and Customer Success in Berlin, Paris (and partially Europe-wide remote): 30+ new roles over the next 12 months.

Thank you

To Samuel and Jonas at Reimann Investors: thank you for leading the round and believing in the long vision. To our existing investors Capnamic, caesar., World Fund, Venture Stars and Catatumbo Capital: re-upping (some of you for the third or fourth time now) means a lot to us. And a warm welcome to IBB Ventures and Cindy Beckel for joining as a new co-investor.

To the retailers, merchants and store teams who let us learn alongside them: none of this exists without your daily collaboration. Thank you.

And to the Freshflow team: the numbers above are yours. Let’s show the world what we can do. 🍎🎯

We’re hiring. Open roles at freshflow.ai/careers: engineering, ML, data science, sales and customer success.
